03 Oct 2017 Lady Filmmakers Festival
Three years ago I attended Lady Filmmakers Festival in Beverly Hills. It’s run by Mike and Patricia Viayra. Not only do they run the festival and it’s now in its 9th year but they are also filmmakers. Basically practicing what they preach. The weekend is held at The Wiltshire Screening Rooms. It is totally based on quality and not quantity. There are enough films to watch without feeling overwhelmed as well as not feeling like you’re missing out. The panels are also incredibly helpful. I would say that as I was asked to have my own seminar, as well as be filmed on the round table discussion. I love telling my story about my journey and feel eternally grateful that people want to actually listen to me. I have connected with many people in the industry from film festivals that I have gone on to work with. This festival is no exception. I met an actress who was in my last film, a make up artist; who works with me all the time as well as a few people who will be on my set shadowing me as a director.
It’s a great place to showcase work and meet like minded people. If you can attend next year, you really should.
